70% of Pune Recruiters Invest Bulk of Hiring Budgets in AI and Tech: LinkedIn Report

Recruiters in Pune are significantly increasing investments in smart hiring technology and AI tools to stay ahead in an increasingly competitive talent market. According to LinkedIn’s latest India Hiring ROI research, 70% of organisations in Pune now spend up to 70% of their recruitment budgets on tech-enabled solutions to hire more efficiently and effectively.

The research, which surveyed over 1,300 HR professionals across 10 cities, shows a clear shift among Pune recruiters from ‘quick hiring’ to ‘quality hiring’. Quality of hire (83%) has emerged as the top measure of success, followed by cost per hire (62%) and revenue per employee (59%). Additionally, 44% of recruiters now define ‘quality talent’ by prioritising practical and transferable skills over traditional qualifications.

AI drives efficiency and skills-first hiring
LinkedIn’s study highlights that:

  • 67% of Pune recruiters are already using AI-powered hiring tools.
  • 65% leverage data analytics to make faster, informed decisions.
  • 54% say AI has improved hiring efficiency, while 51% report better skills-first hiring outcomes.
  • 87% plan to use personalised content and data insights to better engage candidates.

Across India, industries like IT & Technology, Healthcare, and Manufacturing are also adopting AI at scale. For example, 71% of IT recruiters use AI screening tools, and 74% rely on data analytics to streamline hiring.

Recruiters also report real, measurable benefits from AI adoption: time saved through automation of manual tasks, improved candidate targeting, and the ability to focus more on strategic activities like advising hiring managers and enhancing candidate experience.

GCCs face fierce competition for top talent
In Pune’s Global Capability Centres (GCCs), competition for skilled talent remains a key challenge. 71% cite high competition for top candidates, and 62% say there is a lack of locally available skilled talent.

LinkedIn’s generative AI tools deliver faster results
To meet the growing demand for quality talent quickly, LinkedIn has rolled out new AI features:

  • Recruiter 2024, its first generative AI hiring platform, enables hirers to connect with qualified candidates more effectively. AI-assisted messages are seeing 44% higher acceptance rates and 11% faster responses compared to traditional outreach.
  • The new Hiring Assistant AI agent automates repetitive tasks like sourcing and screening, freeing recruiters to focus on strategic work such as interviewing, stakeholder alignment, and building strong talent pipelines.

With these advancements, 85% of Pune recruiters say they are ready to step up as strategic career advisors, using AI to deliver greater business impact and plan long-term talent strategies.
