An Indian professional’s Reddit post has gone viral after he shared how he took “revenge” on a colleague who had dismissed his workplace woes. The post has split opinions with some calling it relatable and others calling out the mentality. The employee who is a senior analyst at a product company with a startup culture shared how a hiring freeze had reduced his team and he was left with too much work.
“There is a girl in my team who is 2 years less experienced than me. I chit-chat with this girl once in a while and sometimes vent out my frustration about how the work culture has become toxic,” he wrote. “She instead of being empathetic, says things in a sarcastic way like ‘koi baat nahi sab theek ho jayega’ and sometimes even laughs, which kind of pisses me off.”
From Frustration to Petty Revenge
After resigning from his role, the Redditor said he stopped participating actively in tasks and began transitioning his workload to his colleagues, including the same teammate. As the girl came under pressure, he used her own words against her. “Now, she is having a lot of tasks on her plate and she is visibly under lot of pressure and frustrated with the work. She keeps venting her frustration in front of me and other teammates. I got the chance now to take revenge and I keep saying the same lines she used to tell me ‘koi baat nahi sab teek ho jayega’. The irritation on her face after I say this is really worth it. Sometimes I even laugh out loud on her face on the same. Somewhere I felt life has come a full circle.”
Mixed Reactions From Users
The post quickly attracted comments, with many criticizing the original poster (OP). One user questioned his approach: “How else you wanted girl to react to your vent man? She is not your therapist after all. If she did anything really bad I would understand. This is just you being mean and petty.”
Another user highlighted the corporate culture angle: “Bro, people in corporate like politics more than work. Not supporting that girl nor OP. She must have said something normal, or he must have ignored her. Why have a revenge mindset just to satisfy ego? I’ve seen a team lead for their so-called fragile ego; he deceived a junior employee for being blunt. Top hierarchy people don’t care about work after some time, ragging stopped in colleges and continued in corporate.”
