Vedanta Limited has joined hands with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to train employees in Basic Life Support (BLS) techniques, reinforcing its safety-first culture.
The three-day programme, launched at Hindustan Zinc’s Rajpura Dariba Complex in Udaipur, began with a cohort of women leaders from Vedanta group companies including Hindustan Zinc, Vedanta Aluminium, Cairn Oil and Gas, FACOR, ESL Steel, and Sesa Goa. The training will gradually extend to the company’s entire workforce.
NDRF experts conducted hands-on sessions covering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED) use, bleeding and shock management, musculoskeletal injury care, and patient handling. The initiative comes against the backdrop of a sharp rise in cardiovascular emergencies in India, highlighting the importance of trained first responders.
Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Chairperson of Hindustan Zinc and Non-Executive Director at Vedanta Ltd., said the effort reflects the company’s belief that safety is “who we are,” with each trained employee becoming a “multiplier of safety” within their communities.
NDRF officials added that BLS skills go beyond the workplace, calling them a “civic responsibility” that could save lives during critical moments.
With this initiative, Vedanta is not only deepening workplace safety but also empowering employees to play an active role in emergency preparedness, building resilience within and beyond the organisation.
