Samsung To Train 9,400 Youth For Retail Jobs

Samsung has announced an expansion of its Samsung Digital & Offline Skills Training (DOST) Sales Programme. As part of the new phase, 9,400 youth from underserved backgrounds will be trained for frontline roles across retail stores, strengthening India’s skilled workforce and supporting inclusive economic development.

Launched in 2021, the DOST initiative has steadily built a talent pipeline for the organised retail sector. The latest edition—DOST Sales 4.0—kicked off this year in collaboration with the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) and the Telecom Sector Skills Council (TSSC), marking Samsung’s biggest push yet in retail skilling.

Under the programme, each participant undergoes 120 hours of virtual classroom learning conducted by certified trainers from ESSCI and TSSC, followed by 60 hours of technical and behavioural training delivered by Samsung’s Retail Sales Team. The training spans key areas such as:

  • Customer communication and interaction
  • Core sales principles and retail workflows
  • Product demonstrations and knowledge building
  • Store operations and service excellence

This is followed by a five-month on-the-job training (OJT) period at Samsung retail outlets across the country. During this time, trainees gain practical exposure in sales conversion, customer engagement, store management, and product guidance. Samsung also provides a monthly stipend during the OJT period to support participants.

Upon completing their training and assessments, eligible candidates receive a National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF)-aligned certification recognized by the government—boosting their employability and opening doors to long-term roles across India’s organised retail industry.

Through the DOST Sales Programme, Samsung aims to equip young talent with the capabilities needed to succeed as Sales Promoters—frontline specialists who help customers make informed purchase decisions through demonstrations, product insights, and store support.
