Singapore extends part-time re-employment grant for senior workers

Singapore has extended the Part-Time Re-employment Grant until December 31, 2027, to continue supporting the employment of senior workers. The Ministry of Manpower said applications for the grant reopened on December 18, 2025. The scheme offers financial support to employers who provide part-time re-employment, flexible work arrangements and structured career planning for workers aged 60 and above.

The grant has been extended for two more years due to steady demand. Under the scheme, employers receive $2,500 for each senior worker they employ or retain, with a maximum cap of $125,000 per employer. The move aims to help companies keep experienced workers in the workforce for longer.

Wider push to support senior employment

Since its launch in 2020, uptake of the Part-Time Re-employment Grant has remained strong. As of November 2025, more than 7,500 employers have used the scheme. It has supported the employment or retention of over 65,000 senior workers. The government has disbursed more than $92 million under the programme so far.

The Singapore National Employers Federation continues as the programme partner for the grant. Employers can find application details through the official government portal.

The ministry said the grant is part of a wider set of measures to strengthen senior employment. Employers can also tap the Senior Employment Credit, which provides wage support of up to 7% for hiring workers aged 60 and above. Senior workers can access skills programmes to improve employability, including the SkillsFuture Level-Up Programme for those aged 40 and above.

Other support includes Workforce Singapore’s Career Conversion Programme, which offers higher funding for mature workers seeking mid-career switches. The programme was recently enhanced to cover a wider group of workers.

In July 2025, the ministry and its tripartite partners formed the Tripartite Workgroup on Senior Employment. The group focuses on improving productivity and employability among senior workers and promoting age-friendly workplaces. It has also launched an alliance involving 32 organisations to develop solutions related to training, career guidance, job redesign and flexible work options.
