Sapiens to cut hundreds of jobs: These two countries may be hit the hardest

Sapiens is cutting hundreds of jobs with employees in India and the US hit the hardest. According to a report by Calcalist, the software company is planning to layoff approximately 10% of its workforce after completion of the $2.5 billion sale of Sapiens to private equity firm Advent. The company currently employs 5,400 employees across regions. The job cuts are likely to impact 540 employees.

As per the report, the cuts will not be evenly distributed across regions. As mentioned above, employees in the US and India will be most impacted by Sapiens layoffs. In Israel, the company will cut around 40 jobs which is around 5% of its total workforce in the country.

However, the layoffs may reach up to 10% in India which currently employs around 2,000 people. Similarly, Sapiens job cuts may reach up to 10% in the US that employs nearly 600 people.“The scale of the reduction there reflects the new management’s decision to move away from software-and-services sales and transition fully to a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model, in line with prevailing cloud-based industry standards,” the Calcalist report says. It further states that Advent does not view some of the recent acquisitions in the US as “strategic” and may seek to divest them over the coming year.

Sapiens acquired by Advent for $2.5 billion

Global private equity firm Advent acquired Sapiens in 2025 for $2.5 billion. Post the acquisition, Sapiens’ management has been replaced and the company’s headquarters has been relocated to London. Additionally, Sapiens was delisted from trading in New York and Tel Aviv on December 17.Calling job reduction a part of structural transformation, Ernesto Marinelli, appointed by the fund and serving as Chief People Success Officer told the publication:“Today’s customers want completely different things than in the past. Everyone is moving to the cloud and expects innovation, so Sapiens must change the way it operates”.
