Motivated by these promises, he committed himself fully to the job. For three long years, he showed up consistently, putting in close to 55 hours every week and working every Saturday without exception.

Despite his dedication, nothing changed. There were no promotions, no salary increases, and none of the certifications he had been promised. As living costs surged during the pandemic, the lack of financial growth became increasingly difficult to ignore. Eventually, he decided to ask for a modest pay bump. The request was minimal, amounting to just fifty extra dollars per week, which translated to less than a dollar more per hour.

Instead of acknowledging his loyalty and workload, his supervisor reacted dismissively and rejected the request outright. The response made it clear that his efforts were neither valued nor rewarded.
