A Reddit post highlighting a workplace conflict has gone viral among professionals after a user shared a screenshot of a tense WhatsApp chat with his manager. The chat showed the manager denying the employee’s leave request, which led to an uncomfortable exchange between the two.
The post shared by Reddit user Quick_carpenter915 shows the user informing his boss that he would be unable to work on Monday due to an electricity and internet outage in their neighbourhood. The disruption was reportedly caused by faulty wiring that required replacement, making remote work impossible.
However, things escalated when the manager denied the leave request and warned that “further negotiations will be considered as absconding from work.”
Instead of continuing the argument, the employee responded with a short message, “Ok, please consider Friday, 7th February to be my last working day,” adding that he made a mistake by informing him of the issue honestly.
The anonymous user accompanied the screenshots, providing a step-by-step account of the events. He explained that he informed management in advance, was asked to report to the office despite the outage, reminded their manager about the issue, and was eventually issued an ultimatum.
He concluded the post by sharing that after sending the resignation message, the user was called, and his issue was finally understood. Their leave was subsequently approved until Tuesday.
The post quickly went viral, drawing widespread attention from users who shared their opinions on the workplace conflict.
One user said, “I wonder why so many of these conversations posted on this sub happen in WhatsApp. That itself looks unprofessional.”
Another Reddit user added, “Get at least 2 other job offers and then, be bold to them. No one should suffer this. I absolutely hate it when these fucks torture the employees for no reason, mainly just ego or a power trip.”
One user joked, “Imagine this is a plot planned to fire OP. Then they come up with ‘Get you a relieving letter tomorrow itself.”
