Myntra has carried out an internal restructuring that directly affects employees in its Gurgaon satellite office. About 50 people from the catalogue operations team have been laid off as the company consolidates these operations into its main headquarters in Bengaluru. The move is part of a broader plan to centralise teams, reduce duplication, and improve collaboration.
For those whose roles are being relocated, Myntra will offering assistance to relocate to Bengaluru. Employees whose positions are being phased out will receive severance packages, extended insurance cover, and outplacement assistance to help them through the transition. Sources close to the company reportedly emphasised that these changes are not linked to performance issues or automation, but are purely organisational decisions aimed at streamlining operations.
The restructuring only impacts the catalogue operations team and does not extend to other business functions. Some roles are being merged into larger Bengaluru-based teams to strengthen coordination, while others are being discontinued altogether. The decision reflects Myntra’s intent to bring cross-functional teams under one roof, since most of its leadership and core business units already operate from Bengaluru.
Myntra has previously maintained smaller satellite teams in Gurgaon to support specific functions. However, as the company recalibrates its structure, it is prioritising Bengaluru as the central hub for operations. This change comes at a time when many consumer internet companies are reassessing costs and team structures, even as they continue to invest in core growth areas.
For employees, the restructuring means either relocating, transitioning to new opportunities, or leaving with support measures in place. It underscores how companies are balancing efficiency with employee impact in today’s competitive environment.
