CIBC to establish Hyderabad GCC, creating 2,000 jobs

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) is making Hyderabad its next big tech bet, with plans to launch a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in the city from July. The move is set to create more than 2,000 jobs across banking technology, data analytics and financial services in the future according to Telangana government officials.

The proposed centre comes as a part of CIBC’s broader strategy to strengthen its global technology and financial services operations. Officials are reported to have said that the Hyderabad facility will help the bank accelerate digital transformation, build in-house technical capabilities and reduce reliance on third-party vendors. That means roles spanning software engineering, cloud, cybersecurity, AI and data — the kind of work essential to modern banking.

CIBC’s entry adds further momentum to Hyderabad’s rise as a preferred destination for global banking and financial services firms.

There are clear reasons why Hyderabad offers a deep pool of talent in fintech, data science and IT, backed by strong engineering colleges feeding fresh graduates into the market. The ecosystem has matured to a point where global banks can modernise operations and run round-the-clock product development without missing a beat.

Telangana has been actively positioning Hyderabad as a hub for global investment and innovation. The CIBC commitment was among the major investment pledges made during the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025 that are now materialising. Officials believe CIBC’s decision could encourage further BFSI firms to consider Hyderabad for their India operations.

This is good news for job seekers and professionals in banking tech, fintech, data and analytics, as it will give a meaningful boost to the local job market.
