The debate between work from home (WFH) and work from office (WFO) continues to shape modern work culture, especially in urban India, where professionals constantly balance productivity, comfort, and work-life flexibility. While WFH offers convenience and reduced commute time, WFO provides structure, collaboration, and a clearer boundary between personal and professional life. However, Bengaluru-based woman Harleen N prefers neither of the 2 work modes. Instead, she chooses to work from cafés, enjoying a change of environment, steady ambience, and a refreshing break from routine office or home settings.
Not long ago, Harleen N dropped a video on Instagram, sharing her daily expense breakdown of working from cafés in Bengaluru. Surprisingly, the cost was much cheaper, coupled with additional perks, than either WFH or WFO setups.
Bengaluru woman’s work from cafe routine
In the post, Harleen offered viewers a detailed breakdown of her day, beginning with her commute to the café. She highlighted how her routine begins with an auto ride costing around Rs 85 from home to the café. She further pointed out her preference for cafe spaces where she finds a comfortable work environment with air conditioning, calm surroundings, and soft background music. Harleen also noted that AC remains the biggest perk during long hours.
The video went on to show Harleen spending the day working on her laptop, taking breaks, ordering food and coffee, and enjoying the relaxed café atmosphere. She explained that her food and beverage expenses came to around Rs 700, with additional productive work sessions interspersed throughout the day. By the end of her café work routine, she estimated her total daily cost at approximately Rs 800.
Bengaluru woman’s post divides internet
The post quickly drew attention on social media, sparking a range of reactions from users. One user commented that while the setup looked appealing, it could become expensive for daily use. Another wrote that spending around Rs 800 for productivity, comfort, and peace seemed worth it on certain days. Several users also noted that Bengaluru cafés are increasingly functioning as informal coworking spaces, reflecting a growing shift in urban work culture.
Others chimed in with lighter reactions, with one user joking that AC truly is the biggest luxury in such weather. Another viewer added that the caption captured the mood perfectly, noting that work, in any setting, should always continue without disruption.
