Not everything is about ‘hustle culture’, sometimes it’s simply about living a ‘better life’ through proper ‘work-life balance’- is how most of the internet reacted- somewhat agreeing with American entrepreneur and venture capitalist Bryan Johnson- after the millionaire’s advice to an Indian man completely took over the internet! An Indian techie- Priyanshu Sol- recently shared about how he and his colleagues were working till 4 AM, along with asking the netizens about their ‘excuses’ for NOT working that late. The post was quick to draw many divided reactions from netizens taking sides with varied working patterns. However, the matter blew on another level after Bryan Johnson stepped in with his advice, which many dubbed ‘useful’.
“It’s 4 AM guys, but builders are building. What’s your excuse,” the Indian man’s post read. Responding to the post, Johnson warned the man that it may feel ‘heroic’ for now, but it will only allegedly lead to downing one’s ‘human capacity’. The millionaire then stated that ‘missed sleep’ also ‘raises cortisol, increases visceral fat and decays memory’.
“It may feel heroic but you’re spending down your human capacity. That posture reduces brain oxygen by 30%. The blue light suppresses melatonin, fragments deep-sleep, blunts next-day insulin sensitivity. The missed sleep raises cortisol, increases visceral-fat and decays memory,” read Bryan Johnson’s response.
As soon as the comment was shared online, it went insanely viral. Most agreed with Johnson, while also pointing out how they had a ‘life, family and health’ to prioritise, while some advocated for the Indian man and his ‘hustle’.

“No good code is being written at 4am and ruining your morning focus (the best focus of the day),” a user said. “Building till 4-5 and sometimes 6-7 in the morning has been my ritual for the past 6-7 months,” added another person.
“The excuse is to feel good, rest, be healthy, and, thus, make better decisions. Having said that, sometimes working at night can be a lot of fun but you have to make it special to be so. Like a night of going out,” added a third person.
“My excuse is that I have different deadlines and a different distribution of sleep/work. While you will get your sleep back another day, by sleeping longer, I will just get it by sleeping at night and working during the day,” added another.
