Software-as-a-service (SaaS) companies in India are ramping up their workforce, buoyed by robust growth and strong investor appetite, with a marked shift towards sustainable growth and investment in AI skills.
SaaS hiring rose 14% in 2025, currently accounting for nearly a fifth of all technology jobs, showed data compiled by jobs platform foundit.
Zoho, Freshworks, Keka, Zeta, Innovaccer, Whatfix, Darwinbox, and Wingify are among SaaS firms looking to add talent, recruiters told ET.
Bengaluru continues to anchor SaaS hiring, but the rising share of Chennai and Hyderabad signals a broader redistribution of product and R&D work across India.
“SaaS companies are moving beyond platform build-out to a sharper focus on monetisation, customer retention, and AI-led differentiation,” said Tarun Sharma, chief product and technology officer at foundit. “Mid-sized SaaS firms have emerged as the strongest hiring engines, leveraging stable revenues and clearer product-market fit, while early-stage startups remain cautious amid funding discipline.”
There are currently more than 17,000 SaaS job openings in leading companies and fast-growing startups, up from 13,000-15,000 in the previous year, said Neeti Sharma, CEO at TeamLease Digital.
“We are seeing an uptick in core technical roles such as AI/ML engineers, data scientists, cloud and API architects, as well as cybersecurity experts,” said Sharma. “There is also demand for hybrid roles like product managers with analytics expertise, and solution architects and customer success managers are also being hired.”
Zeta, an engineering-first SaaS company that builds and implements core banking, payments, and card processing solutions for financial institutions globally, is hiring for roles in engineering, implementation, and customer success. The firm has been amplifying its campus hiring efforts to add early-career engineers. “Over the past 4-5 years, we have scaled to a 1,500+ strong workforce, with 60-70% focused on engineering and product development,” said Shubhayu Sengupta, chief people officer at Zeta. Innovaccer is looking for talent in key functions such as engineering, product, delivery, sales, and marketing with the healthtech firm rolling out several products and ramping up its investments in AI and emerging technologies, said Satyajit Menon, global head of people experience at Innovaccer.
“Our current hiring momentum is driven by our strategic expansion into new geographies and product categories,” said Menon. “Attracting the next generation of tech talent is central to our vision, as we continue to embed AI capabilities into our solutions.”
Software startup Wingify has been strengthening its India team with hires across engineering, sales, and customer success, especially in areas linked to AI product development.
“There is a strong focus on senior talent to accelerate our marketing, sales, and product scale across regions, as we look to build for the long term,” said Sparsh Gupta, co-founder at Wingify. “We have also substantially ramped up international hiring as we deepen our presence across key markets.”
