Once a highly accomplished full-stack developer, Padmanaban Ebbas had built a successful software company that catered to international clients. Today, his life has taken a dramatic turn. Residing in Bengaluru, Padmanaban now works as a food delivery agent to make ends meet. His story recently came to light after a user on X (formerly Twitter), Nithin Kumar, shared a moving encounter with him.
One evening, while ordering food through a delivery platform, Kumar received his meal from Padmanaban, who also handed over a single-page résumé. The document carried the headline “Delivered with care, built with code” and revealed a surprising truth—this delivery partner was in fact a senior-level software engineer with more than 19 years of experience. The resume outlined Padmanaban’s credentials, stating that while he delivers food to stay afloat, his bigger mission is to slowly rebuild the business he once established.
Kumar was moved and asked Padmanaban if he needed help securing a job, but the tech professional politely declined. His focus, he said, was not just to find employment but to revive his own venture, step by step.
According to details listed on his LinkedIn account, Padmanaban is the founder of Curicent Technologies, a company based in Tamil Nadu, launched in 2018. With a degree in electronics and communication, his academic foundation is strong. His areas of expertise span a wide range of technological fields, including web and mobile development, robotics, blockchain solutions, and smart contracts.
Apart from his technical skills, Padmanaban is passionate about educating the next generation. He frequently conducts seminars and guest lectures at schools and colleges, aiming to bridge the gap between the academic world and the technology industry. His sessions often focus on inspiring students to think creatively and embrace innovation.
Padmanaban has worn many hats over the years. As a serial entrepreneur, he has worked extensively in the IT, IT-enabled services (ITES), and business process outsourcing (BPO) sectors. His roles have covered everything from consulting and custom software development to project management, product launches, marketing, customer support, and user training. He has also played an active part in transcription services, data processing, and managing both voice and non-voice BPO operations.
Beyond running businesses, Padmanaban has contributed as a part-time lecturer at respected academic institutions. He has served as an examiner for undergraduate and postgraduate technical exams and participated in conferences and workshops to speak on the latest developments in IT.
Though his journey has taken a difficult detour, Padmanaban remains committed to rebuilding his dream from the ground up, blending hard work with humility and vision.
