Croatia’s Average Salary Rises to €1,439 in April, IT Workers Still Leading the Pack

The average monthly net salary in Croatia reached €1,439 per employee in legal entities this April, marking an 8.8% nominal increase and a 5.4% real increase compared to the same month last year, according to the latest report from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS).

However, in a month-to-month comparison, April’s average salary was slightly down — 0.6% nominally and 1.2% in real terms — compared to March 2025.

Once again, the information services sector topped the salary rankings, with the highest average net salary of €2,812. At the opposite end of the spectrum was the clothing manufacturing industry, where workers earned an average of €925 net per month.

The median net salary — the amount where half of employees earn more and half earn less — stood at €1,218 in April. This figure represents a 1.5% increase from March and a 9.7% rise year-on-year, reflecting broader wage growth across the economy.

Meanwhile, the average gross monthly salary for April was €1,998, down 0.8% nominally and 1.4% in real terms from March. Still, compared to April 2024, gross wages increased 9.2% nominally and 5.8% in real terms.

In terms of working hours, employees logged an average of 174 paid hours in April, a 4.8% increase from the previous month.

The average net hourly wage for April stood at €8.08, down 4.5% from March, but up 9.3% year-on-year — another signal of Croatia’s steady wage growth amid rising living costs and inflation.
