DP World’s $2.5 billion investment in developing logistics infrastructure this year is generating nearly 5,000 new jobs across four continents, underscoring the company’s role in transforming global trade networks.
The expansion covers projects in India, the United Kingdom, Ecuador, Senegal and the Democratic Republic of Congo, adding to DP World’s direct workforce of more than 100,000 people worldwide. “We are delighted that our investment is providing jobs for almost 5,000 people this year alone to help deliver major upgrades to transport infrastructure,” said Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO, DP World.
In India, the development of a new terminal at Tuna Tekra is creating 2,000 construction jobs, while rail and inland terminals across the subcontinent will add 500 more. In Africa, 600 jobs are being generated at Senegal’s deep-sea port in Ndayane, while the Port of Banana in the Democratic Republic of Congo is creating 500 roles to establish the nation’s first deep-sea facility.
In the UK, DP World’s $1bn expansion of London Gateway, which includes two berths and a second rail terminal, is delivering 1,000 new jobs. Meanwhile, in Ecuador, the expansion of DP World Posorja is adding over 300 construction jobs and more than 100 operational roles.
Once complete, these projects are expected to create thousands of additional jobs and significantly enhance regional connectivity, laying the foundation for long-term trade and economic growth.
