A fresher- with an alleged experience of 1.5 years- single-handedly left the internet triggered with his Reddit post, which was basically a rant about his new job offer. Taking to social media, the man claimed that he was working at a reputed news channel, with a Rs 30,000 salary in hand. He then recently applied to another reputed channel and received an offer with Rs 35,436 in hand. However, the offer with allegedly more than 22 per cent hike- as per netizens- left the candidate disappointed. As per the Redditor, he had demanded Rs 40,000 in hand, however, his received offer only increased to Rs 36,736. Calling the offer ‘pathetic’, the man ranted about the matter on social media.
Coming to the internet’s reaction, the rant mostly did not sit well with netizens. Most called the Redditor ‘entitled’, while some pointed out his experience. Times Now could not confirm the authenticity of the post.
“HR’s pathetic salary offer,” the post read
“I’m a fresher at a reputed news channel, earning Rs 30,000 in-hand. My starting salary was Rs 22,000 in-hand. Now, I applied to another well-known channel, and they offered Rs 35,436 in-hand, claiming it’s their ‘best’ offer for my 1.5 years of experience. I emailed them, demanding at least Rs 40,000 in-hand. Weeks later, their HR called today, saying my ‘revised’ salary is Rs 36,736, and this is their final offer. I told them I’d get back. What the actual fuck!? I’m beyond pissed. From Rs 35,436 to Rs 36,736, a pathetic Rs 1,300 increase? Is this a fucking joke? Are they doing me a ‘favour’ with this insulting increment?” the post further read.

“India is a supply heavy market bro, look for a different company if you don’t like it there’s no point in stressing yourself out,” a user said. “Before giving the interview, didn’t you quote your expectations?” commented a second person.
“You sound entitled and immature. They are giving you 36736 from 30,000. That’s more than 22% hike, nothing to scoff at after 1.5 years of experience,” added a third person. “Are you that new? Look at how less your experience is. And then take a look at the market,” added a fourth person.
“You demanded? Lol. You have 1.5 years of experience, you are like Jon Snow at this point, you know nothing. Be humble B,” commented a fifth user. “You have 1.5 years of experience and scoffing at a company for giving you 22% hike. The entitlement on this sub sometimes, lol,” added another.
