A recent Reddit post has gone viral after a young professional reflected on their decision to leave a company that offered what they now call “insane perks.” The employee, who shared details of the work culture, admitted they had underestimated the benefits at the time but now realize it was “actually a flex.”
The post read, “I realized this a bit late, but my previous company was actually a flex when it came to work culture.”
Perks That Stood Out
According to the Redditor, the company provided an extensive list of employee benefits, including ₹5 lakh health insurance outside of CTC, a ₹10,000 annual wellness allowance covering gym, mental health, and OPD costs, as well as permanent remote work and flexible hours.
The leave policy also stood out with 12 sick leaves, 12 casual leaves, 4 bereavement leaves, and a company-wide shutdown from December 25 to January 1. Additionally, employees enjoyed three-day offsites at five-star luxury resorts twice a year.
The user added, “Take leaves whenever you want – just inform the team, no questions asked (I’ve even told them at 10 am the same day).”
Moving On for Growth
Despite the enviable perks, the employee explained that they chose to leave for career development. “I literally had to force myself to move on for the sake of learning and experiencing the industry, since I’m still early in my career.”
One Reddit user said, “I think with rupee being so cheap, companies can really throw money at employees in India and still not feel the pinch.”
Another added, “We just drop a note on Slack saying ‘I’ll be on leave,’ and it’s paid leave. We don’t even have the concept of a fixed number of leaves. On average, people take around 4 to 5 random leaves per month.”
Third said, “My previous company and team were a really good balance between everything I wanted for work. But I had to change to a really regressive setup (policy and culture wise) for the sake of growth.”
