A Senior Solutions Architect working at a multinational company shared his workplace experience on Reddit, describing how a newly hired project manager’s excessive micromanagement and rigid bureaucracy led to widespread frustration among both the team and the client.
According to the post, the manager, who recently joined the company and is in his early 50s, began implementing unnecessary approval steps and control measures for even minor decisions. “Now this guy is a control freak and just loves micro management. He joined the project and started micro managing everyone and created bureaucracy in everything,” the employee wrote.
Employee Says He Was ‘Red Taped’ After Escalation
Tensions escalated after the architect directly handled a client request without prior approval. He wrote, “This old man gets pissed off because I did not seek his stupid approval and escalated to the entire management all the way to the partner that I am undermining his work.”
Following the incident, the employee said he was “red taped” and restricted to work only on tasks approved by the manager. Feeling frustrated, he reached out to the client company’s CTO to explore opportunities — a move that turned his situation around completely.
Set to Return as Client’s Director Next Month
The client company offered him a senior leadership position, and he has accepted the role. “I resigned and will be joining this new company as the Director of Technology. I cannot wait to see his face when he will realise I am on the other side of the table as his client,” he shared.
He added that he will take charge in December’s first week, where he will now oversee contracts and renewals — including the one with his former employer. The story has drawn widespread reactions online, with many calling it the perfect example of poetic workplace justice.
