Jordan’s industrial sector continues to drive labour market momentum this year, with the Jordan Chamber of Industry confirming that the industry created more than 6,000 new job opportunities for Jordanians in the first nine months of 2025. Total organised employment in industry now exceeds 270,000 workers, marking a 4.5% increase in Jordanian workers compared to the same period last year, reinforcing manufacturing’s position as one of the country’s core employment engines.
Around half of the new jobs came from the food industry, supported by rising export demand and expansion into new markets. The Chamber noted that industrial exports grew 7.5% in the first eight months of 2025, now representing 91% of national exports, with export coverage of imports reaching 51%, the highest level in Jordan’s trade history. Workforce demand is also being fuelled by foreign market diversification, including Europe and select African markets, aligning with national growth targets.
Industrial value creation continues to scale, with the sector contributing 39% of total national economic growth in Q2 2025 and recording a 4.8% real growth rate. Industrial production increased 1.76% across nine of ten industrial sectors, led by construction (+5.5%), packaging (+4.1%), engineering (+3.5%) and iron & steel, which surged 37%, the strongest manufacturing growth in 17 years.On the Amman Stock Exchange, industrial companies accounted for 42.2% of market value and 31.6% of trading volume in September, reflecting the sector’s investment weight and confidence.
The JCI stressed that 2025 marks a qualitative transformation phase for Jordanian industry, driven by higher value-added production, digital transformation and energy efficiency, and will continue to serve as a major lever for accelerating job creation and advancing EMV 2033 workforce goals.
