Malaysia’s national employment portal, MYFutureJobs, has recorded 622,283 job placements between 2023 and December 19 this year, highlighting sustained hiring momentum and the impact of active labour market policies.
Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said the milestone reflects both the effectiveness of targeted employment initiatives and the country’s broader economic resilience, particularly amid global trade headwinds and policy uncertainty.
He noted that the programme’s performance aligns with the International Monetary Fund’s recent assessment of Malaysia’s economic strength. In a statement, Ramanan said the IMF’s recognition reinforces Malaysia’s ability to remain resilient, supported by strong domestic demand, continued investment inflows and healthy employment growth.
For the workforce, the focus is shifting beyond job creation alone. Ramanan stressed that economic resilience must translate into tangible benefits for workers through quality employment and fair wages. “Economic growth must go hand in hand with the creation of quality jobs,” he said, signalling a policy emphasis on sustainable employment rather than short-term hiring gains.
The Ministry of Human Resources plans to further strengthen MYFutureJobs through greater use of digital technology and strategic partnerships. Enhancements include more active job matching, expanded skills development pathways and the continued rollout of the Progressive Wage Policy, aimed at improving income progression and workforce competitiveness.
The IMF, in its December 19 update, cited Malaysia’s strong domestic demand and prudent economic management as key factors underpinning the country’s resilience. For employers and jobseekers alike, the latest MYFutureJobs figures point to a labour market that remains active, while policy attention increasingly centres on job quality, skills alignment and wage growth.
