Oracle has quietly begun one of its largest workforce shake-ups in years, with employee forums and filings indicating that more than 3,000 staff worldwide have been let go. The cuts stretch across the United States, India, the Philippines, Canada, and several European offices, with teams in Oracle Health, architects, and cloud infrastructure all reporting heavy exits.
In the U.S., WARN notices confirm the scale: hundreds of jobs are being erased in California hubs — including Redwood City and Santa Clara — alongside losses in Seattle. Meanwhile, chatter inside Indian tech circles suggests that support and back-end roles are also being thinned out, though without formal confirmation from the company.
What makes the layoffs striking is their timing. Oracle just wrapped up fiscal 2025 with revenue of $57.4 billion, up 8% year-on-year. Yet the company is funnelling billions into artificial intelligence and cloud systems, trimming human capital to free up resources for the next growth spurt. Employees, however, see it less as “strategic redeployment” and more as another sign of how fast AI is redrawing the corporate job map.
By placing its biggest bets on AI-driven infrastructure, Oracle joins peers like Microsoft and Cisco in signalling that the future of Big Tech belongs to machines — even if that means fewer humans on payroll.
