Salaries in Croatia up nearly 10% year-on-year, statistics show

The average monthly net salary in Croatia for June stood at €1,444, according to data published on Wednesday by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS).

Compared to the same month last year, this represents a nominal increase of 9.8% and a real rise of 5.9%.

On a monthly basis, however, salaries slipped slightly, with June’s figure 0.5% lower in nominal terms and 0.7% lower in real terms compared to May.

Highest and lowest paid sectors

Employees in air transport received the highest average net salary in June at €2,279, while the lowest was recorded in clothing manufacturing at €926.

When looking at gross salaries, the average for June was €2,008, down 0.5% compared to May. On an annual level, gross pay rose by 10.4% nominally and 6.5% in real terms.

The highest gross salary was again in air transport (€3,317), and the lowest in clothing manufacturing (€1,212).

Median salary and trends

The median net salary for June was €1,233, meaning half of employees earned less and half earned more than that amount. Compared with May, the median salary was 0.2% lower, but it was up 11.5% compared to June last year.

Between January and June 2025, the average monthly net salary stood at €1,432, marking a year-on-year nominal increase of 10.4% and a real increase of 6.7%. Over the same period, the average gross salary was €1,988, up 11.2% nominally and 7.4% in real terms.

Paid working hours

In June, employees recorded an average of 165 paid hours, 5.2% fewer than in May. The highest number of paid hours was seen in support activities for mining (175), while the lowest was in building management and landscaping services (147).

The average net hourly wage for June came in at €8.45, which is 4.2% higher than in May and 5.1% higher than in June 2024, DZS data show.
