Sharjah approves 400 new government jobs for Emirati citizens

Sharjah has approved 400 new positions for Emirati citizens within government agencies, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance employment opportunities for nationals. The decision was made by Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The Human Resources Department will begin conducting interviews after Eid al-Adha, with preference given to university graduates who have completed training under existing government human resources programmes.

In parallel, the Ruler has approved AED 55.8 million in funding for the Sharjah programme for the qualification and training of job seekers. This programme, which supports skill development and job readiness, currently includes 1,520 male and female participants. It will run from 1 July to 31 December 2025, continuing its role in preparing citizens for employment within the public sector.

The newly announced roles and continued investment in training reflect Sharjah’s wider strategy to support national workforce development through structured and targeted interventions. By prioritising candidates who have already participated in qualification programmes, the government aims to maximise the return on training investments and place skilled talent into relevant roles.

These developments form part of a broader trend across the UAE to strengthen Emiratisation efforts and increase the presence of citizens in public and private sector jobs. The focus remains on equipping job seekers with practical skills and connecting them to available roles through coordinated recruitment and training initiatives.
