Telangana has set an ambitious goal of establishing 120 Global Capability Centres (GCCs) by 2026, aiming to create nearly 1.2 lakh new jobs in the process, according to state IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu. The announcement, made at the inauguration of the Vanguard New India Global Value Centre (GVC) in Hyderabad’s Knowledge Park, highlights the state’s commitment to becoming a leading global destination for multinational companies.
The minister highlighted that the decision by Vanguard, one of the world’s largest investment management firms, to set up its Global Value Centre in Hyderabad underscores the city’s growing reputation for talent, stability, and global competitiveness. Vanguard, which manages over $6.4 trillion in assets, has chosen the city to focus on engineering excellence, AI-led solutions, data security, and cloud modernisation.
“The selection of Hyderabad for Vanguard’s Global Value Centre reflects the city’s trust, integrity, and innovation,” Babu said. He also noted that the Telangana government’s strategy is not only about attracting investments but also ensuring that the local workforce benefits from these developments.
In line with this vision, the government plans to equip local youth with the necessary skills for future-ready roles in sectors such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, cloud engineering, and cybersecurity. “We are focusing on skilling, reskilling, and upskilling our youth to meet the demands of tomorrow’s job market,” Babu explained.
Hyderabad’s success as a key hub for global investment is already evident, with seven of the world’s top asset management companies operating in the city, managing assets collectively worth over $30 trillion. This growing cluster of global firms is positioning Telangana as a hub for high-tech innovation, offering not just employment but long-term growth opportunities.
The state government is also encouraging more international industry leaders to invest in Telangana, inviting them to partner in the state’s development story. “We encourage international industry leaders to be partners in the story of Rising Telangana,” Babu said, underlining the state’s determination to foster a vibrant ecosystem of technology and investment.
As Hyderabad continues to strengthen its position as a global tech and business hub, the government’s forward-looking approach to education and workforce development aims to ensure the state’s talent pool is well-equipped for the challenges and opportunities of the future.
