The UAE’s offshore industry to create 83,000 jobs

The UAE’s offshore industry is set to generate nearly 83,000 skilled jobs over the next five years as more multinational companies expand operations to tap into the country’s talent pool, according to new research by Robert Walters. The sector is also expected to add $7 billion (Dh25.7 billion) to the economy by 2030, up 46% from current levels.

While traditionally linked to oil drilling, the offshore sector in the UAE is evolving into a hub for advanced functions, with rising demand for professionals in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and product analysis. This reflects a shift in global workforce strategy, where companies are moving beyond cost-cutting to focus on accessing specialised talent.

Salary data shows offshore engineers in the UAE can earn between Dh6,900 per month at entry level and Dh18,200 at senior levels, highlighting attractive career prospects for skilled professionals. Robert Walters noted that the UAE’s strategic location, strong English-language proficiency, advanced digital infrastructure, and government support for innovation are making it a leading destination for offshoring.

Industry experts emphasised that integrating offshore teams into core operations is becoming a long-term workforce strategy. As companies decentralise high-value operations globally, the UAE’s multilingual workforce, modern infrastructure, and supportive business environment are positioning it as a key hub for skills development and job creation in the offshore economy.
