‘Weird’ job interviews are not exactly something too ‘rare’. Social media is full of instances where either the candidate or the HR ended up facing ‘out of blue’ questions, queries or situations. Adding another to the list, a man narrated yet another similar incident that unfolded with him. Taking to the internet the man shared the incident on Reddit. As per the Reddit post, the man allegedly got a call from a ‘tech company’, where the entire interview went well. However, it was the ‘last question’ that left him second-guessing his will to go forward with the hiring process. Believe it or not, the HR allegedly asked the man about his ‘time of birth’. After confirming if HR really asked what she just asked, the man ended the call, refusing to take the process further.
The post, soon after getting shared, went viral. Times Now could not confirm the authenticity of the post. Most netizens connected the question with astrology and speculated that the HR was possibly trying to match the man’s ‘future’ at the company- astrologically.
“HR asked me the weirdest question ever,” the post read.
“A couple of days ago, I got a call from a tech company and the whole interview went well. All questions were answered and right as I was about to say thanks and hang up. The HR asked me ‘What’s my time of birth’. I was so caught off guard and confused, never being asked this my entire life. I even thought I misheard her and told her to repeat it and she said again ‘What’s my time of birth’. I told her where I’m from federal law says it’s not allowed to ask if I’m married, and you’re asking me an account security question? I told her I was not interested anymore and hung up. Has this happened to anyone?” the post further read.
The post was shared on Reddit, by the handle ‘Pizza_Samurai88’. It was shared 2 days ago and pulled more than 4K reactions from people.
“Totally unsurprising that they are now using astrology in the hiring process,” a user said. “Time of birth sounds like HR was trying to do some stupid astrology thing,” commented a second person.
“Clearly they know where you were born. Now they need to know the time so they can put it in your astrology chart. Then they’ll find out if you will be a good fit culturally. Lol, looks like you dodged a bullet!” added another.
“Astrology, Enneagram and MBTI tests have no place in HR. I was asked to do an enneagram test last year. I thought they were scamming me,” wrote a fourth person. “Not sure why you thought it was related to your relationship status or account security, but still a weird question to ask. They definitely wanted astrology to check you,” added another.
