Wix calls employees back to office; president says need to be fast due to AI

Israeli web development firm Wix is moving back to full work-from-office (WFO) mode starting February 1, 2026.

Company president Nir Zohar shared on X today the email he had sent to the team.

“We’re moving back to a full office work week while keeping what’s core to Wix: real flexibility for real life, based on trust, clarity, and people’s needs. We’re in a moment where our industry is being reshaped by AI. We need to move fast, continue our growth, and the best way is to do this together,” Zohar wrote.

In the note, Zohar shared that WFO will first be implemented for teams based out of Tel Aviv, Be’er Sheva, Kraków, and Vilnius. The teams in Ukraine will be allowed to work from anywhere, while customer care and the remaining global teams will be informed about the changes by their leadership later on.

Zohar said that at a time when AI is having serious implications for business, the decision is driven by the belief that in-person collaboration boosts speed, creativity, problem-solving, and team connection.

He added that the earlier shift to WFH (work-from-home) / hybrid mode was due to Covid, space constraints, and regional security concerns, not long-term cultural change.

However, Zohar added that flexibility is not being done away with, leaving room for occasional exceptions based on personal circumstances, distance from the office, health, family needs, or temporary situations.

In December, Instagram also announced mandatory work-from-office, with CEO Adam Mosseri stating that starting February 2, US employees must return to office full time.
