A recent Reddit post has highlighted the dilemma faced by a 2021-2025 BTech graduate who has received job offers from two of India’s top IT companies — Infosys and Wipro. The graduate, who has been at home for the past 2-3 months, is struggling to decide between joining Infosys as a Systems Engineer Trainee or Wipro as a Project Engineer (Turbo profile).
Infosys Offer: Certainty and Immediate Joining
The Infosys offer comes with a joining date of August 25, 2025, for training in Mysore. The salary is ₹25,000 per month for the first six months and ₹30,000 per month thereafter, with a CTC of 3.6 LPA. There is an 18-month probation and a bond of ₹1 lakh if the candidate leaves before 18 months.
Reddit Users Warn About Wipro’s Uncertainty
The Wipro offer, on the other hand, provides a higher CTC of 5.5 LPA and a joining bonus of ₹1 lakh after one year, but the joining date remains unknown. Several Reddit users cautioned the candidate against relying on the Wipro offer. One user said, “An offer without a DOJ in this market from a services company is useless. Wipro is probably holding you for a project that may come. If the contract doesn’t get signed, you will not be given an offer to join.”
Another user added, “Join infosys as it’s joining is near. Wipro has not given any joining date so it is a bit risky in this environment.” A Wipro employee also weighed in, saying, “Being a Wipro Employee, I suggest you not take the Wipro one. The projects are not allocated based on your skill set it’s random. You don’t know python? You get a python based project/client and you will suffer because you don’t know what the hell to do in there.”
Finally, another Redditor clarified the nature of Wipro’s letter of intent: “So sweet of you to think that 3.6LPA CTC = 30k per month salary. Coming to your question, letter of intent is not an actual offer. Its just intention to hire you but may change if business requirement does not need it. Go with infosys.”
