Infosys reported a sharp increase in the number of employees earning more than ₹1 crore annually, with the count rising 16% year-on-year to 130 as of March 2026, according to the company’s annual report.
The increase came despite only modest growth in the company’s workforce and is believed to be the highest number of such employees reported by the company so far.
Infosys said the rise was largely driven by changes in the perquisite value of stock-based incentives that had been granted in previous years and were exercised during FY26, along with compensation revisions.
The company also recorded improved retention among its highest-paid employees. Only 22 employees in the ₹1 crore-plus category exited during FY26, compared with about 67 departures over the previous two financial years.
The increase in high-income employees comes at a time when the technology services industry is navigating questions around the impact of generative artificial intelligence and automation on traditional delivery models.
The number of employees earning over ₹1 crore had stood at 112 in FY25, after declining to 103 in FY24. Before FY22, the figure had remained below 100.
Infosys said it does not expect its overall employee base to shrink by the end of FY27 and cited continued demand for lateral hiring. The company plans to recruit 20,000 graduates from campuses during FY27, matching its hiring target from the previous year.
The disclosure covers only India-based employees who remained on the company’s rolls for the entire financial year. It excludes employees who joined or left during the year and therefore did not complete a full-year tenure. Compensation paid to the company’s top 10 employees is also excluded, as those details are disclosed separately.
Employee benefit expenses increased 11% year-on-year to ₹95,094 crore in FY26. The expense accounted for 53% of the company’s revenue of about ₹1.8 lakh crore during the year.
Infosys reported a 10% increase in revenue and a 10.2% rise in net profit to ₹29,440 crore in FY26.
As of March 31, 2026, the company had 252,753 employees on a standalone basis and 328,594 employees on a consolidated basis, compared with 323,578 a year earlier, indicating a net addition of roughly 5,000 employees during the year.
