Anthropic Opens Bengaluru Office, Announces Local Hiring And Partnership

American artificial intelligence firm Anthropic on Monday announced the opening of its Bengaluru office, marking its second presence in Asia after Tokyo. The company said the new office will focus on hiring local talent across a wide range of roles.

In a statement, Anthropic said India is the second-largest market for its AI assistant Claude. Nearly half of Claude’s usage in the country involves computer and mathematical tasks, including application development and production software deployment.

The company also announced new partnerships across enterprise, education and agriculture, aimed at strengthening its engagement with India across multiple sectors.

“India represents one of the world’s most promising opportunities to bring the benefits of responsible AI to vastly more people and enterprises,” said Irina Ghose, Managing Director for India at Anthropic. She added that the country has strong technical talent, digital infrastructure at scale and a proven record of leveraging technology for social impact.

Anthropic highlighted its partnership with Pratham, under which the Anytime Testing Machine, powered by Claude, is being piloted with 1,500 students across 20 schools. The programme is expected to expand to 100 schools by the end of 2026.

The Anytime Testing Machine is designed to create flexible and credible pathways for learning and certification by helping students prepare for examinations.

“AI tools like Claude give us new ways to reach students who do not have access to advanced educational resources,” said Madhav Chavan, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Pratham.

Anthropic also claimed that its India run-rate revenue has doubled since October 2025.

Further, the company said it is collaborating with the Central Square Foundation to use AI and education technology more effectively to support learning outcomes for children from underserved communities.

Anthropic also cited its support for Adalat AI, which is set to launch on Monday. The initiative aims to improve access to judicial services through a national WhatsApp helpline offering court case updates, translation services, document summarisation and interactive queries of legal documents in Indian languages.

The company noted that it created the Model Context Protocol as a universal open-source standard to connect AI applications with external systems, and recently donated the protocol to the Linux Foundation.
