Dell Technologies employees have raised red flags over mounting work stress, job uncertainty, and rigid return-to-office (RTO) mandates, according to insights from the company’s latest internal “Tell Dell” survey. While managerial support remains strong, the overall sentiment signals growing fatigue across the workforce.
The Employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS), a key indicator of staff satisfaction, dropped sharply to 32, down from 63 in 2023 and 48 last year. The plunge comes on the heels of widespread layoffs—approximately 25,000 jobs cut—and an aggressive push to scale AI initiatives across departments.
Employees cited “AI workload burnout,” a lack of psychological safety, and “constant pressure to prove presence” at physical offices as key reasons for their declining morale. Several employees voiced frustration over a perceived disconnect between executive decisions and ground realities, with some describing recent communication from leadership as “dismissive of genuine concerns.”
Yet, amid the dissatisfaction, managers emerged as a stabilising force. The Leader Net Promoter Score stood at a strong 76, indicating that many employees continue to value their direct supervisors, even as broader organisational trust appears shaken.
In response, Dell’s Chief HR Officer, Jenn Saavedra, acknowledged the survey results and outlined steps to rebuild employee trust, including quarterly feedback sessions, greater managerial transparency, and improved listening mechanisms.
Still, for many on the ground, especially those navigating hybrid uncertainties and post-layoff workloads, the question remains: can leadership restore confidence before the next disruption hits?
