HCL Technologies recently held a big event at its Noida campus to celebrate 50 years of the company. Many employees attended the event, which had several special moments. Founder Shiv Nadar was also present and made a rare public appearance in a wheelchair.
Chairperson Roshni Nadar spoke to employees and shared a message to motivate them. CEO Vijayakumar C also joined the celebrations and surprised everyone by dancing on stage.
Employee Steals The Moment During Concert
One of the main attractions of the evening was a private concert by Arijit Singh, arranged only for employees. During this concert, something unexpected happened that later caught a lot of attention online.
While Vijayakumar was on stage dancing and waving at the crowd, an employee from the audience shouted, “Sir, appraisal kab hoga?” The question was heard by people nearby and made them laugh. It is not clear if the CEO actually heard it, as the employee seemed to be standing far from the stage.

The moment was recorded and shared on Instagram by an employee, and the video quickly spread online. Many people found it funny and started reacting in the comments section. Some users joked about the situation.
A person joked, “Bata to rahe dono haath hila kr ki kabhi nahi hoga.”
Another said, “This celebration is happening because there was no salary hike for employees, and that amount has been shifted to event management.”
Others also joined in, with one saying appraisals might happen next year, while another commented, “This is the appraisal, guys.”

HCL’s Journey And Plans For Employees
HCLTech started in 1976 when a group of eight engineers, led by Shiv Nadar, built the company. Over the years, it grew from a hardware business into a large global IT company.
As part of its 50-year celebrations, the company has reportedly planned more events for employees. Roshni Nadar shared that there will be nine similar concerts in nine different cities over the next year.
After the Noida event, employees were also given free metro rides. The company worked with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to extend metro timings till 12:30 am, so people could travel home safely after the late-night celebration.
