India’s workforce is set to benefit as Global Capability Centres (GCCs) ramp up their presence, with office leasing projected to grow 15-20% over the next two years, according to Colliers India. The surge is not just a real estate story—it reflects a wave of hiring, skill development and new workplace opportunities for professionals across technology, finance, engineering and manufacturing.
Since 2021, GCCs have leased 100 million square feet of Grade A space, supporting thousands of jobs and becoming a critical hub for global operations. By 2027, their footprint is expected to touch 60-65 million square feet, creating vibrant talent clusters across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and other metros.
The growth points to a more diverse hiring landscape. While tech roles still dominate, sectors like banking, financial services & insurance (BFSI), along with engineering and manufacturing, are steadily increasing their intake. Experts say this will translate into cross-functional career opportunities, demand for new-age skills, and a greater focus on employee experience within these workplaces.
Flexible workspaces and emerging Tier II cities are also attracting GCC interest, a trend that could extend job access beyond metros and bring world-class offices closer to untapped talent pools. For employees, this means access to modern workplaces, structured career paths and upskilling prospects, strengthening India’s role as a global talent hub.
