Bengaluru: Former BJP deputy chief minister and MLA C N Ashwath Narayan on Saturday said that Yuvotsava – Udyoga Mela 2026, a job fair with the theme ‘Employment for All’ on April 20, will be held to mark Basava Jayanti.
Addressing a press conference, Narayan said more than 100 companies from the IT, manufacturing, banking, healthcare, retail, logistics and service sectors are offering more than 5,000 job opportunities in the job fair organised in association with Bharat Career Connect.
While, the job fair will be held at the SHVNM Government Women’s Pre-University College, Malleswaram, from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm, the run-up to the event will also focus on online sessions on skill development, upskilling, entrepreneurship, livelihood generation, financial and legal literacy and is open to candidates with PUC, ITI and diploma, graduate and postgraduate degrees or currently pursuing those courses. Online registration and guidance sessions will begin on Monday, along with a hackathon and expert interactions. Narayan said the mela will provide a common platform for direct interaction, recruitment and career exploration. Career counselling sessions will emphasise the importance of relevant education and skills. “Degrees alone are not enough. Knowledge and skills are essential for livelihood,” he said.
