Authorities in Maharashtra are set to establish a dedicated study group to examine workforce-related concerns in the state’s expanding technology sector. The move comes as part of a broader effort to better understand workplace challenges and identify long-term solutions.
The decision follows a high-level review at Mantralaya, where concerns raised by employees from Hinjewadi IT Park were discussed. As one of the largest IT hubs in the region, Hinjewadi has seen increasing feedback around workplace practices and employee experience.
Among the key issues highlighted were reports of employees facing pressure to resign. The review emphasised the need to examine such cases more closely and strengthen safeguards within existing HR processes. There is also a focus on improving transparency in termination procedures and ensuring fair treatment across organisations.
Operational challenges linked to Provident Fund accounts were also discussed. Employees have reported delays in transferring or updating PF accounts when switching jobs. Authorities are expected to coordinate with relevant offices to streamline these processes and reduce inconvenience.
In addition, placement agencies operating under the Shop Act are likely to come under closer scrutiny. Concerns around irregular hiring practices have prompted plans for stricter verification of their compliance and documentation.
Efforts are also being planned to improve awareness among IT employees about available grievance redressal mechanisms. This includes encouraging greater use of official complaint systems to report workplace issues.
The proposed study group will conduct a detailed assessment of these concerns and submit recommendations. The exercise is expected to offer insights into improving workforce practices while supporting the continued growth of the IT sector.
