Man Working In Paris Calls Out Toxic Work Culture: ‘If One Indian Comes 5 Minutes Late…’

An Indian professional working in Paris has sparked an online debate after speaking candidly about his experiences with Indian colleagues abroad. In a video now circulating widely, he highlighted a common workplace issue, claiming that many Indian employees tend to focus on pointing out minor mistakes made by others instead of concentrating on their own tasks. According to him, even a few minutes of delay can be blown out of proportion, with such issues often being escalated to managers.

He also spoke about how “gossip, backbiting and complaints” are part of daily office life among some Indians. The man added that he feels lucky to be the only Indian on his project, as it keeps him away from daily drama. He claimed that local workers do not bother much about office politics, but Indians often pull each other down and make the work space uncomfortable. He feels this constant rivalry ruins teamwork and makes the workspace uncomfortable for everyone.

‘This Is Not Just In India, It Is The Same Outside Too’

The man explained, “An Indian is an enemy of another Indian. This is not just in India, it is the same outside too. Anyone who works in an office, whether in India or abroad, will connect with me on this. I am in Paris, France and even here there are some Indians working with me. Luckily, I am not on their project. I am the only Indian on my project. These people are bringing each other down. If even one euro is lost, they act as if something huge has happened. They want every benefit from the company. If one Indian comes to the office before 9 am, he shows off saying, ‘Look, I came before 9.’ If another comes just five minutes late, he highlights it in front of the manager like the person has committed a big crime.”

“The funny part is that the manager himself comes at 10 AM and leaves at 12 PM. He works half a day. The situation they have created is terrible. The place is a mess. They say one thing here and another thing there. They complain to the manager, pass messages, fight among themselves and do full politics. People here do not care much about politics, but it is the Indians who are doing politics against other Indians. I really do not understand what they get by putting others down and making them feel small. Indians have completely spoiled the work environments,” he added.

The video posted on Instagram came with the caption, “Office politics done by Indians not only inside India but even outside as well.”

How Did The Internet React

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “That is why they ruled over us like this for 300 years — they already knew we were divided.”

Another shared, “Similar situation in the U.S. my first job after graduation was with a firm where most managers were Indians. After I left the firm, I promised myself if I don’t have a job I rather stay in my car and eat one meal a day but never work for Desi. I switched my career to a field that has only American people and managers.”

“Such people cannot truly belong to anyone. It’s better to give them a strong reply or just stay away from them,” a comment read.

An individual stated, “Relatable. I am not Indian but as a south Asian I too have learned a lesson, in workplace stay away from Indians especially Indian managers! Hard life lesson.”

Another individual also shared an experience from a previous job, alleging serious misconduct. He said that some Indian managers failed to pay him and his co-workers the wages mandated by the US Labour Department. When an audit was conducted, it revealed that the company owed the employees over $100,000 in unpaid salaries. According to him, a manager later admitted that the payment cheque had been deliberately hidden, preventing the workers from receiving their dues. Although they attempted to claim the money through government channels, too much time had passed for the case to proceed, resulting in a complete loss of their hard-earned wages. He added that the incident left him deeply frustrated and angry.
