Molson Coors to cut 400 jobs

Molson Coors Beverage Company announced plans to cut about 400 jobs. The job cuts represent roughly nine per cent of its salaried workforce in the Americas.

The decision comes amid slowing consumer spending, inflationary pressures, and ongoing tariff-related uncertainties that have weighed on the US beverage industry. The beer maker said the restructuring aims to streamline operations and redirect resources toward its core business segments — including beer, non-alcoholic beverages and energy drinks.

Molson Coors expects to incur restructuring charges of about $35 million to $50 million in the fourth quarter of 2025. The company, which operates breweries in Colorado and produces popular brands such as Coors, Molson, and Miller, employed about 16,800 people worldwide as of December 2024, according to its latest annual report.

The announcement follows the company’s August forecast of lower annual profits, citing the rising cost of aluminum used in beverage cans due to tariffs. Industry analysts have noted that shifting consumer preferences and cost volatility continue to pressure major brewers to rethink their operating models.

The job cuts also come shortly after the appointment of Rahul Goyal as the company’s new chief executive officer. Goyal, an internal appointee, is expected to lead Molson Coors through its next phase of transformation and focus on stabilising growth across its diverse product portfolio.

Shares of Molson Coors were largely unchanged in early Monday trading following the announcement.
