Myntra lays off 50 employees as it shifts Gurugram roles to Bengaluru

Myntra is consolidating its Gurugram-based satellite operations into its Bengaluru headquarters, a move that will involve a mix of role transfers and a limited number of layoffs, according to a company spokesperson.

Inc42 had earlier reported that around 50 roles in the company’s Gurugram-based catalogue team were impacted as Myntra sought to integrate certain functions into larger Bengaluru-based units while phasing out others.

In a statement issued after the report, a Myntra spokesperson said the consolidation is aimed at strengthening collaboration and simplifying ways of working. “As part of this consolidation, some roles will transition into larger teams based in Bengaluru, and a limited number of positions may be impacted,” the spokesperson said.

The company added that the decisions are structural in nature and not linked to individual performance. Myntra said it would support affected employees through the transition “with care and appropriate assistance”.

Founded in 2007, Myntra was acquired by Flipkart in 2014 for $240 million and has since become one of India’s largest online fashion platforms.

The restructuring comes despite strong financial performance. According to Inc42, Myntra’s net profit surged nearly 18-fold to ₹548 crore in FY25, while revenue from operations rose 18% to ₹6,043 crore.

The development reflects a broader recalibration across India’s startup ecosystem, where companies continue to prioritise cost discipline and leaner organisational structures even amid profitability.
