An employee was left questioning his office’s dress code, claiming that it reflected certain ‘double standards’. Taking to Reddit, the man- a digital news website employee- shared how his office did not have any particular dress code. He then claimed that due to no formal acceptable attire, most employees faced no issue with wearing ‘crop tops’. However, when the employee decided to wear a ‘slipper’ in the office, he was allegedly asked to not wear them again by his boss. The Redditor further claimed that he had no involvement in formal events like a meeting or such- so wearing a slipper wouldn’t have been an issue. Expressing his disappointment over the matter, the man called it ‘dress code double standards’.
The post, soon after getting shared, went viral. Most cracked jokes on the same and shared rather hilarious ‘solutions’, while some pointed out how a ‘slipper’ was ‘way too informal’.

“Dresscode double standards: crop tops ok, slippers not ok,” the post read.
“I work at a digital news website where there’s no official dress code. Some women coworkers wear crop tops that expose the navel and I have no issue with that. But here’s what bothers me: I was once told by my boss not to wear slippers. My role doesn’t involve attending meetings or any situation that demands formal wear. So why the double standard? If others can dress comfortably, why can’t I wear slippers as long as I’m doing my job well?” the post concluded.

“Assert your dominance, start wearing crop tops in the office,” a user said. “Go with barefoot so your supervisor will request you to wear at least slippers,” commented a second person. “This is surely wrong. Everyone should be allowed to wear whatever,” added another.
“Slippers are dangerous during evacuations as per Health and safety ISO standards. Your company is ensuring your safety. This is followed in all MNCs,” pointed out a fourth netizen in the comment section.
“Dude, I understand you feel comfortable in slippers, but still! I’m not with crop-tops and stuff either, but since it is not my workplace so it’s not my rules! Either follow their rule or make your own place where you follow yours!” added a fifth person.
