Oman orders early salary payments for employees ahead of Eid

Oman has announced the early release of salaries for both public and private- sector employees ahead of the upcoming Eid al Fitr celebrations in 2026. The move will ensure that the workers receive their wages in time to prepare for the festival.

The directive was issued through an official circular outlining a timeline for processing March salaries and pensions across government entities. Ministries and government departments have been instructed to complete the entry of payroll data into their human resource systems by 8 March, 2026.

Following this step, internal audit units are required to review and approve salary payment vouchers through the country’s Unified Financial System by 15 March. Once these procedures are completed, the official disbursement date for March salaries and pensions for government employees has been scheduled for 17 March, 2026.

Alongside the government directive, the Ministry of Labour issued a separate circular to companies operating in the private sector under the Labour Law introduced through Royal Decree No. 53/2023. Employers have been directed to speed up the payment of wages to their employees in view of the upcoming festival.

The circular specifies that all private-sector establishments must ensure that salaries for March 2026 are credited to employees no later than 18 March, 2026. Authorities stressed that companies are expected to adhere to the deadline so that workers can meet financial needs related to the holiday.

The move is intended to provide financial certainty for employees and their families ahead of Eid celebrations. By setting clear timelines for payroll processing in both the public and private-sectors, the government aims to ensure that workers across the country receive their earnings without delays during the festive period.
