T-Mobile is set to lay off nearly 400 employees across Washington state, adding to a fresh wave of job cuts sweeping the US technology and telecom sectors.
State filings show the company plans to permanently eliminate 393 roles across multiple locations in Washington, with layoffs scheduled to begin on 2 April 2026, according to reports by local broadcaster KING 5.
The cuts were disclosed in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing submitted to the Washington State Employment Security Department. The notice states that the affected positions will not be reinstated.
Employees across several sites will be impacted, including offices in Bellevue, Bellingham and Bothell, underscoring the breadth of the reductions across the state. T-Mobile is headquartered in Bellevue and employs thousands in the region.
In a statement to KING 5, the company said the decision forms part of a broader organisational reset. “As the next step in our evolution, we’re making some changes while continuing to hire to ensure we have the right focus, structure and momentum,” T-Mobile said.
The layoffs come as large US technology and communications companies continue to reassess staffing levels after years of expansion. Reuters has reported that cost discipline, automation and shifting investment priorities have driven renewed job cuts across the sector.
T-Mobile did not specify which teams would be affected or whether further reductions are planned beyond those outlined in the filing.
For Washington state, the announcement adds to mounting concerns over white-collar employment stability, particularly in technology-heavy regions. Analysts expect workforce adjustments to remain a feature of the sector in 2026 as companies balance network investment, competition and slower revenue growth.
