‘Workplace toxicity’ is back in discussions! A man’s recent social media post went viral on the internet, which left many fuming and even ‘relating’. As per the post, the man- an employee who joined a new company just 5 months back- was put on ‘PIP’ allegedly for refusing to work on ‘weekends’ and during his ‘paid leave’. Narrating the ordeal, the employee claimed that his organisation followed the ‘6-day working’ work pattern, where his ‘toxic’ manager further expected the employees to work on Sundays as well. The man then opened up about the incident that led to him being on PIP- as per the post, he had applied for 4 days of leave, which got approved. However, despite the approval, the man’s manager asked him to work, which the employee ultimately could not- due to travelling. What happened next left the Redditor stressed- as per the post, after returning from the leave, the man’s boss began to act ‘cold’- followed by a ‘PIP call’ by the HR.
The post went viral soon after getting shared, mostly over how netizens found the incident ‘unfair’. Many also called such ‘toxic patterns’ common for Indian corporate offices. A few netizens also suggested ‘resigning’, calling the place ‘toxic’. Times Now could not confirm the exact location and authenticity of the post.
For those not aware, PIP in corporate spaces stands for ‘Performance Improvement Plan’.
“Put on PIP because I had refused to work on my weekend and Leaves,” the post read.

“Changing jobs is hard especially when you’re only 5 months in but that is only the permanent solution I’m aware of. I don’t have much to add, But I think you should start looking regardless,” a user said.
“Most Indian orgs work like the Mafia. The owner is the mafia boss and sets the rules and the managers just play along. Think of the HR as the corrupt police department that dances along with the mafia boss. Jokes apart, it sounds like a very toxic place,” added a second person.
“Ask HR to drop an email looping your manager – mentioning the exact KRA/parameters that qualify for PIP,” added a third person. “Name and shame such companies and that toxic manager. Those managers deserve a full cha**al shot. I wish that the manager would get fired too and beg for a job,” added another.
