SBM Bank India has strengthened its focus on gender diversity as it approaches International Women’s Day 2026, reporting steady progress in the representation of women across its workforce. As of March 2025, women made up 32 per cent of the Bank’s employees, placing it among the more gender-diverse large private sector banks in India. By January 2026, this figure rose to 33 per cent, reflecting ongoing efforts to build a more inclusive workplace.
The progress comes alongside a series of women-focused initiatives designed to amplify voices within the organisation and support leadership development among women professionals.
One such initiative is “Dear Younger Me,” an employee-led social-media series that invites women employees from different levels of the organisation to write letters to their younger selves. Through personal reflections, the series encourages conversations around ambition, resilience, and career growth. The format has resonated strongly across internal and external platforms, sparking engagement and discussion about women’s journeys in the workplace.
Internally, SBM Bank is introducing a Women Ambassador Programme, selecting role models from within the organisation who represent resilience, authenticity and professional excellence. The initiative aims to inspire employees through relatable stories of success and perseverance.
To further strengthen leadership capability, the Bank has also rolled out an Executive Coaching Programme for Women, focused on building strategic thinking, leadership readiness and personal effectiveness among women professionals.
Sajitha Pillai, head – HR, SBM Bank, said, “Reaching 33 per cent women representation is a milestone shaped by our hiring practices and a supportive ecosystem. But our real commitment lies in creating pathways for growth. We’re proud to champion initiatives that build confidence, capability and leadership for our women workforce.”
