Infosys has advised employees at its Pune campus to bring meals from home after a shortage of commercial LPG disrupted cooking operations across office cafeterias.
The company informed employees that several food vendors on campus are facing difficulties due to limited availability of cooking gas, leading to reduced menu options and temporary suspension of certain freshly prepared items.
While cafeterias will remain operational, vendors have scaled back live cooking counters and hot meal preparation until supplies stabilise. Employees have been encouraged to plan meals accordingly, as campus food services may operate with restricted offerings in the interim.
The situation reflects a wider challenge faced by institutional kitchens and large corporate food courts that depend heavily on commercial LPG for daily cooking operations. With supply constraints affecting several cities, many vendors are exploring alternatives such as electric cooking equipment and centralised food preparation to maintain service continuity.
For large technology campuses that cater to thousands of employees daily, the disruption has prompted temporary adjustments to workplace amenities, highlighting how energy supply fluctuations can quickly ripple into everyday office operations.
