Creator jobs surge 919% in India’s marketing workforce

India’s creator economy is shifting from informal collaborations to structured employment. According to new data from Indeed, job postings for roles requiring content creation skills—such as influencers, content creators, and social-media marketers—have grown by 919 per cent between 2020 and early 2026. What was once a niche segment now represents a significant share of marketing jobs, showing how creators are becoming embedded within company structures.

In 2020, creator roles accounted for roughly 1 in every 1,000 marketing jobs. Today, they stand at nearly 1 in every 100, reflecting a rapid rise in demand. This growth is also supported by India’s evolving policy framework, which is beginning to formally recognise the creator ecosystem. Companies are increasingly hiring creators in-house to ensure accountability, brand consistency, and measurable outcomes, rather than relying only on external collaborations.

Between March 2025 and February 2026, the distribution of creator-related jobs shows a diverse mix. About 40 per cent are influencer roles, directly representing brands. Another 20 per cent are marketing executives shaping strategy, while 17 per cent are interns entering the ecosystem. The rest span video production, community management, and content operations, highlighting that nearly 60 per cent of creator hiring now sits outside traditional influencer titles. This indicates organisations are building end-to-end content capabilities.

The demand for structured creator roles is outpacing supply, creating a talent gap. For young Indians skilled in video editing, storytelling, and digital engagement, this formalisation offers new career pathways.

Employers, meanwhile, are shifting expectations toward performance-driven metrics such as engagement, conversions, and brand impact.

The rise of creator jobs signals a new corporate ladder—where digital talent moves from followers to full-time roles, reshaping the future of marketing and HR strategies alike.
