Cognizant Technology Solutions is set to build a large IT campus in Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, with an investment of Rs 1,582.98 crore, Times of India reported.
The project, which is set to commence commercial operations by March 2029, is expected to create around 8,000 jobs.
To support this major development, the Andhra Pradesh government will provide 21.31 acres of land in Kapuluppada (under the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority) at a nominal rate of just 99 paise.
This nearly free land allotment is part of the state’s push to attract big IT companies and boost employment opportunities.
The upcoming facility will focus on IT and IT-enabled services (ITES), and the entire project will be funded entirely by Cognizant without any external help.
According to Times of India, the announcement is seen as a big win for Visakhapatnam and a milestone in the state’s growing IT sector.
The project adds to Visakhapatnam’s growing status as a major IT destination in India and is expected to fuel further economic and tech-related growth in the region.
Cognizant was originally founded in India and is now a global IT and consulting giant headquartered in the US.
Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh government is also planning a futuristic “Data City” near Visakhapatnam, aimed at attracting data centers and AI-related businesses.
