Coders, translators to content writers: 10 jobs at highest risk as AI reshapes labor market, is yours on the list?

Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the global workforce, and a new report by Anthropic suggests that several white-collar professions could face significant disruption in the coming years. The study analyses how modern AI tools are already being used in workplaces and which occupations are most exposed to automation.

According to the research, jobs that rely heavily on digital tasks such as coding, writing, translation and data processing are particularly vulnerable. As AI systems become better at generating text, analysing data and writing software, many routine tasks once handled by professionals can now be completed faster with automated tools.

How did the study measure AI risk?

Anthropic introduced a new method called “observed exposure” to estimate how much of a job’s tasks can be handled by artificial intelligence. The metric combines two factors: the theoretical capability of large language models and real-world evidence of how companies are actually using AI at work.

Rather than simply predicting future automation, the approach focuses on tasks that AI is already performing in professional settings. This provides a more practical picture of how AI could reshape the labour market in the near future. Researchers hope such data will help businesses, workers and policymakers better prepare for the shift toward AI-assisted work.

The Jobs most exposed to AI

The report lists ten occupations which are:

Computer programmers

Customer service representatives

Data entry clerks

Legal assistants and paralegals

Proofreaders and copy editors

Technical writers

Market research analysts

Administrative assistants

Translators

Content writers

Signs of change in job industry

Despite the growing influence of AI, the report notes that there has not yet been a sharp rise in unemployment in affected sectors. However, there are early signs of change. Hiring for some AI-exposed roles especially among young workers entering the workforce has slowed slightly in recent years.

Future of white collar jobs

The findings highlight an important reality: AI is unlikely to eliminate jobs overnight, but it will reshape how many professions operate. Workers in digital fields may need to adapt by learning how to collaborate with AI tools rather than competing against them.
