A disgruntled employee has shared an emotional outburst on social media after his company allegedly made him and other employees work from an office with neither air-conditioning nor windows. The office, the employee added, is situated on the top floor of the building, emphasising how inhumanely hot it can get during the summer days.
The post, shared on Reddit was titled bluntly: “I hope my company burns to the ground.” In it, the employee described being called to the office despite the soaring heat and added that requests to work from home or address the issue were dismissed.
“I work in a lala company. The AC broke down two weeks ago. They ‘repaired’ it once at the start, but it worked for just one-and-a-half days before failing again. They’ve refused to fix it since. They also won’t allow work from home. Our office is on the top floor with no windows for air circulation. It’s unbearable,” the employee said.
They added that management remained indifferent to their plight.
The post did not name the company or city, but said the employee had repeatedly raised concerns internally before turning to Reddit to vent their frustration. “What do they gain from torturing us like this?” the user wrote.
‘This is not a workplace, it’s a health risk’
The post quickly gained traction, with several users expressing shock at the described conditions. Many pointed out that the lack of ventilation and temperature control was not just uncomfortable but a health and safety issue.
“Co-ordinate with others and start fainting one by one,” a Reddit user wrote in jest. “Work in chaddi baniyan,” added another.
Others questioned how such offices were allowed to operate at all, especially when companies regularly issue reminders about productivity, well-being and compliance. Some users urged the poster to document the conditions with photos and escalate the matter to local labour authorities.
“File an anonymous complaint with the labour commissioner, citing unsafe work conditions,” another user suggested.
