The employee shared that they lost their previous job in January after receiving a layoff notification via email. The period that followed brought financial pressure and uncertainty. Recently married and managing ongoing expenses, including car loan payments, the individual said they spent nearly three months applying for jobs and navigating repeated interview rejections before finally securing a new opportunity.
After sending more than 200 applications and facing several unsuccessful interview rounds, the employee accepted an offer from an Indian company. Former colleagues had reportedly warned that the hiring market remained weak and that layoffs across industries could continue, making the decision feel urgent.
However, the adjustment to the new workplace proved more difficult than expected. The employee described the transition as a major shift from the environment of a previous multinational workplace, where engagement activities, flexible work arrangements, leadership interactions and frequent team events were common. Work-from-home options and a socially-active culture had shaped their expectations of professional life.
In contrast, the employee described the current office as noticeably quiet and isolated.
